Mr. Southworth is a principal at Reed McClure. He has practiced in the area of insurance defense, primarily in the area of bodily injury claims, including third-party claims and first -party claims. His practice has included defending insureds, individuals, and corporations against claims involving premises liability, claims against homeowner’s policies, products liability claims, motor vehicle accident claims, dog bite claims, dram shop claims, wrongful death claims, and commercial claims. Currently, his practice focuses on defending insureds of several insurance companies against personal injury claims.

Mr. Southworth practiced law in the state of Connecticut for nine years at an insurance defense law firm. Since 1995, he has practiced exclusively in the state of Washington. Prior to joining Reed McClure, he worked for a prominent insurance company as a claim attorney, practiced in private practice in the area of insurance defense handling first and third-party claims, worked at several insurance company staff counsel offices handling personal lines claims and commercial claims, and then returned to private practice handling defense of personal injury claims and defense of construction defect claims. His practice has included extensive trial litigation, arbitration and mediation of claims, and insurance coverage.
He was born and raised in Ohio. He and his family came to Washington in 1995. He now lives in Lynnwood with his wife. He has an adult son and two adult daughters who live locally.
