Mr. Hartmann’s practice focuses on the areas of insurance defense litigation, including first-party defense (including litigation of bad faith and extra-contractual claims under the Insurance Fair Conduct Act and the Consumer Protection Act) and third-party defense (including personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and wrongful death). Mr. Hartmann also has significant experience in general civil litigation.

Mr. Hartmann was born and raised in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California. He then earned his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. While in law school, he completed a certificate program in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the top-rated Straus Institute for Alternative Dispute Resolution. He served as a legal extern for Justice Tricia Bigelow of the California Court of Appeals. He moved to Seattle in 2011, where he has since lived and practiced law. He is admitted to practice in the State of California, the State of Washington, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
Mr. Hartmann’s prior experience includes practicing law at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith in Seattle, as well as at a small Seattle insurance defense firm.
Immediately prior to joining Reed McClure in February 2018, Mr. Hartmann lived and worked as an English language teacher in Fukui, Japan. His personal interests include traveling, hiking, rowing, college football and spending time with his wife and dog in the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
